Types of Family & Matrimonial Disputes

Divorce

There are two (2) types of divorce applications, namely Joint Divorce Petition (Mutual Divorce) and Single Divorce Petition Divorce (Single Petition)

Annulment

In a simplest form, annulment means cancellation of the marriage as if it never happened. However so, there are stringent rules when one can opt for this.

Judicial Separation

There are circumstances where parties can’t proceed with divorce, yet would want to get an official court order that they are separated. 

Child Custody

The spouses at any time can proceed with the application of child custody, irrespective they are legally married or not. 

Child Maintenance

Any one of the spouse who is primarily taking care of the child can compel the other party to pay for their child maintenance.

Foreign divorces can only be updated in JPN Putrajaya upon getting the Petition Declaration for the said foreign divorces in Malaysian High Court.

Any one of the spouses can stop or prevent another spouse from doing things like taking out the child secretly out of the country etc.
